Master of Data: APEX, VPD, and Data Redaction – The Companions

The power of a company's data treasure trove not only has a magical appeal to traditional hackers; all too often, it is uncontrolled internal data flows that cause massive damage. A modern security concept should therefore start at the core of data storage – i.e., in the database itself. Virtual Private Database (VPD) and Data Redaction have long been integrated components of Oracle Enterprise Edition and enable finely granulated protection of data at row and column level with maximum efficiency and (when implemented correctly) independently of the application.
