ViennaDB Meetup April 2025
Presentation – Exasol database: Why is it our first choice for analysis projects?
On April 7, 2025, the tech-savvy database community gathered once again for the ViennaDB Meetup Group's series of events in Vienna. This time, the event was hosted by Cloudflare, which opened its Vienna offices for lively discussions among database enthusiasts. The ViennaDB Meetup stands for in-depth knowledge transfer and technological openness: at irregular intervals, the community invites participants to lectures, discussions, and networking events on topics related to the world of databases.
The focus of this event was the presentation “Exasol Database: Why Is It Our Number One Choice for Analytics Projects?” by Thomas Petrik (Head of Technology Consulting & Member of the Management Board at Sphinx IT Consulting), who explained why Exasol databases are the first choice for Sphinx projects in the analytics field.
Some key points from the presentation
- Highest performance for time-critical analyses
Exasol is considered the world's fastest analytical database and delivers secure, lightning-fast analyses – a key requirement for modern data-driven products and services. - Massive parallel processing (MPP)
Large amounts of data are intelligently distributed across many computing units – ideal for high-performance analytics processes. - Flexible, low-maintenance, scalable – ideal for SMEs to enterprises
Whether on-premises or in the cloud: Exasol databases are flexibly customizable and impress with an “out of the box” approach, minimal maintenance, and scalable architecture – making them attractive for SMEs and enterprises alike, both technically and in terms of cost. - Best choice for a wide range of applications
Whether DWH, reporting of any kind, analytics, ad hoc loads, data marts, small to extremely large data volumes, etc. - RED Framework – “SQL-only approach”
Our innovative solution tech stack RED (Rapid Exploratory Data Analysis) integrates important functions such as historization, security, and a 100% SQL-based approach – ensuring reproducible reporting from both a technical and business perspective.
