We are therefore currently placing special emphasis on expanding our fully automated Configuration Management Database (CMDB)—which, as the “central nervous system,” forms the core of future-proof IT operations management.
In many companies, IT systems—such as ticketing, monitoring, documentation, IPAM, OpenStack, cloud, and deployment—operate in isolation from one another rather than being closely integrated. Manual handoffs and data disconnects lead to errors, a lack of transparency, and significant coordination efforts.
With an integrated CMDB, we bridge these worlds. Data is automatically consolidated, synchronized, and archived via APIs (Application Programming Interfaces). Changes, dependencies, and responsibilities become traceable—across both the infrastructure and application levels.

The CMDB does not replace existing tools. Rather, it serves as a central integration platform. It collects and structures information much like a data warehouse and enriches it with metadata as well as rules for orchestration and governance.
Via standardized API interfaces, the CMDB integrates a wide variety of sources and systems—such as monitoring solutions like Checkmk. A prerequisite for this is a clear technical definition of what information is needed, the quality at which it must be available, and how the various pieces of information relate to one another.
